The chef from London's 'mostly vegan' eatery Tendril is set to unveil a new café at Somerset House in May.

Rishim Sachdeva is launching Café Petiole, a 27-seat ‘plant-first' establishment featuring all-day dining options and a selection of homemade condiments available for takeout.

Situated just off the Edmond J Safra Fountain Court, Café Petiole will complement the offerings of Skye Gyngell's Spring restaurant and WatchHouse coffee, enhancing the culinary landscape at Somerset House.

Named after the botanical term for the connecting stalk between a plant stem and its leaf.

Papa John's set to close 43 sites

Shake Shack to launch first restaurant at a UK train station
This summer, the burger brand Shake Shack will debut its first restaurant within a UK train station.

At London St Pancras International, the restaurant will feature Shake Shack's core menu items, such as breakfast burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and ShackMeister Ale, along with offerings exclusive to the station site.

The opening will mark the 17th UK location for the US chain since its debut in Covent Garden in 2013.

Shake Shack originated as a hot dog cart in New York.

Bristol's Sandwich Sandwich to launch first London site
Bristol-originated sandwich provider, Sandwich Sandwich, is set to launch its first location in London following its recognition as Uber Eats' Restaurant of the Year for 2023.

The family-operated enterprise will establish its presence on Gresham Street in the heart of the City of London, securing a location previously held by the salad chain, Tossed.

SushiDog secures £800,000 investment amid expansion drive
SushiDog has successfully obtained £800,000 in funding from investor Middleton Enterprises to open four new sites in London.

It comes after Middleton Enterprises, whose portfolio includes gym chain OneGym and landlord platform One Utility Bill, provided £612,000 to the quick-service sushi business in April last year.

SushiDog launched as a kiosk at the Westfield London shopping centre in 2018 and specialises in serving sushi rolls, bowls and salads made fresh-to-order in front of customers.

Kebhouze to open 'UK's biggest kebab shop' in London
A group of Italian entrepreneurs are to open what they claim is the UK's biggest ever kebab house on London's Oxford Circus this month.

Kebhouze, established in Milan in 2021 and currently operating 24 venues in Italy and Spain, is set to open its first restaurant in the UK on December 21.

The three-storey site will offer arcade games, table football and a menu including kebab wraps, burgers, and bowls.

Martin Robinson, who served as chair for six years, is relinquishing his position and board membership. Private equity group snaps up Wagamama owner for £506m
The Restaurant Group (TRG) and Apollo Global Management (AGM) have entered into an agreement for the US private equity giant to buy the casual dining business for £506m.

The deal suggests an enterprise value of £701m for TRG, which incorporates Wagamama and the Brunning & Price pub chain, with Apollo agreeing to pay shareholders 65p per share in cash.

The board has unanimously recommended the deal, which will take the business private, is given the green light by shareholders.

Only last month TRG announced a strategy to offload its leisure business arm.
